Local runner Geoff Linton will be heading off this July to do the 32nd annual Badwater Ultramarathon. This race is known as the “ world’s toughest foot race”, for a reason. Ninety of the world’s toughest athletes, ranging from runners to mountaineers will cover 135 miles non-stop from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney California in130 degree temperatures.

The start line is at 85 metres below sea level and reaches 2533 metres above sea level by the finish. Runners will go up mountains with vertical ascents, and pass landmarks such as Mushroom Rock and the Devil’s Cornfield.

Geoff "Badwater" Linton is raising funds for the Victor Matthews Scholarship fund that will support runners at the University of Guelph. Consider supporting him, it is tax deductible. The University has very little in the way of scholarships for runners, which can make it difficult for coaches there to attract the best high school runners.

To wish Geoff well on his adventure, come visit us as the store for more details. For more information on Badwater, or to watch the race live via webcast, visit: www.badwater.com.
